October is Safety Awareness Month at Coolville Elementary. Our school safety team is busy reviewing safety plans and procedures to keep our students safe and parents informed so that we can keep everyone on point in the event of a crisis. On October 13 th the Coolville Fire department helped with our monthly fire safety drill. Our students and staff are tasked with moving safely to a designated area outside of the building within 3 minutes of the first alarm. Coolville students made it to their targeted areas under the time deadline. In the event of a real fire this helps first responders provide a quicker response to our students. Parent notifications were sent home this week to families whose students are missing medical records or immunization records to improve health safety as the winter cold season is about to begin. If you have received a notification, your doctor may fax the updated records to us at 740-728-2022. Finally, on November 2 nd , Coolville Elementary will be practicing a mock intruder drill with Officer White from the Athens County Sheriff’s office. Students will learn helpful strategies to flee and evade a potential intruder to our school. We hope all of you have a safe and happy October! Mr. Hoover, Principal

Coolville Elementary Preschool students took a field trip to Porter's Pumpkin Patch in Pomeroy, OH. During their visit the children got to pick their own pumpkins from the patch and decorate them, play on a slide, paint mini pumpkins and share lunch together. Even though it rained the children had a great time. Thank you to all who helped make this trip a success!
